Come
I changed the title of today’s letter at least six times (and counting). It started out as a simple note about asking God for help then it went into not giving up in prayer, then going deeper into God. I think you’ll see elements of all of this in the letter but I’m finding it very hard to capture my thoughts on the matter. I think I’ll leave the title as the first one because at the core of it all is the first step of coming to Him.
I am learning so much in this season of the importance of talking with God. I’m not talking about just rolling out the long list of things you want Him to do for you, although that's all well and fine, He’s a good Father and loves to treat His children. I’m talking about asking Him in, opening your heart to Him, about more of what transforms us to become more like Him. I’m talking about letting Him speak too.
Asking God into a situation, your life, your family, your business, your relationships, transforms it into something far grander than we could ever imagine. It takes our story and joins it with His, it brings redemption to a broken mess and rebuilds it to one of true beauty. It makes it possible for the picture of your life, how it is in heaven, to begin to reflect that perfection on earth.
Take a minute to really let that sink in.
Think about everything we know about heaven. It is perfection, no sorrow, no pain, just glory to God in the Highest. Imagine if our lives reflected what heaven stands for regardless of what’s happening around us. It would be a beautiful and wonderful thing, it would be a mirror to everyone around us of what happens when God enters a matter. It would bring hope and freedom to so many who need it.
I am frankly quite humbled right now as it sinks in. There are so many more areas of my life I need to surrender.
Matthew 7:9 talks about how even evil men will not give their children snakes when they ask of fish. Well I would like to flip it the other way and say that God would never give us snakes even if that is what we are asking for in ignorance. He will work on our hearts and send opportunities for us to gain knowledge so that we start to understand that snakes are poisonous and can bite us. Then if we will continue to let Him, because it is a choice, He will continue to work on our hearts till all our desires reflect His will.
Surrender is an interesting process. It evolves and changes depending on the season but at the core of our christian walk is the simple truth of God’s love. God loves us and He has done everything to bring us back to Him, the rest is up to us. There is so much available to us because He has offered Himself to us with no limits. We just have to choose Him. We don't even have to try to figure it out by ourselves. All we have to do is ask Him in. The bible says that He knocks at the door so even if you are whispering because you are too tired or broken or too weak, He hears.
I am excited! I see the future God has planned for each and everyone of us. The beauty of His glory poured out on us. And I am desperate for all of us to taste it. I write for many people but most importantly for those who desire for more but don’t know what to do.
I understand how it feels to be in a place where you feel so stuck and words like this just kind of jump over your head. If you are struggling with understanding more of what God has for you but you want to, please reach out to me, you are not alone. Feel free to reply to this post and I’ll be in touch or book on my calendar to have a chat. I’ll be waiting to hear from you.
Lots of Love,
